The «Drug Delivery UNITHER Award»
Les Echos, June 2009
The contract pharmaceutical manufacturer Unither (headquartered in Amiens, northern France) has announced that on June 19th, it signed an agreement with the pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis concerning the acquisition of the latter's facility at Colomiers (south-west France). Even though the full terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, Unither (a specialist in the manufacture of blow-fill-seal and other single-use doses of liquid and dry products) has committed to taking on all 203 of the Colomiers site's salaried staff. The 17,000 m2 factory produces 45 million units a year (mainly syrups and suppositories). "We plan to develop other technologies on the site, such as the UniStick® single-dose liquid pack", commented Unither CEO Eric Goupil.
This latest acquisition means that Unither's turnover for 2009 will rise to around €110 million (versus €80 million in 2008). Unither now has a total of around 800 salaried staff, compared with just 17 when the company was founded in 1993.
