Modified release dosage forms have been developed in order to accelerate, delay, prolong and/or extend the release of drug substances along the digestive tract. The rate of release is generally modulated by adjusting formulation parameters and the manufacturing process with the aim to offer different delivery modes. Modified release formulations are designed to improve patient adherence to treatments. For example, slow release Once-A-Day formulations were developed many years ago for patients with chronic pain. Unither has developed this new modified release technology combined with an Orodispersible dosage form to maximize patient convenience and successful outcomes.
